| After clicking the button in the Excel's Menu Bar, the above screen will be shown. You can adjust the properties of the P&F Chart accordingly: |
| Start Date: will be filled in with a default value, but you can adjust to suit your needs |
| End Date: will show today's date, but can be adjusted accordingly |
| Box Size: default is 1, but can be changed to any number you choose. This entry is ignored if Traditional Scaling is selected (see below) |
| Reversal: default is 3, but can be changed to any number equal to or greater than 2 |
| Y-Axis Scale: |
| Traditional: uses traditional scaling (sets prices between boxes at .25 when prices 0-5, .50 when prices are 5-20, 1 when prices are 20-100, etc) |
| Fixed: value between each box is set at a fixed amount |
| Logarithmic: multiplies prior box by box size (1.5% scale=1.015, 2% scale=1.02, .5 scale=1.005, etc) |
| DataSource: selects where to get data from |
| MSN: retrieves data from MSN Money |
Yahoo: retrieves data from Yahoo Finance
NOTE: Yahoo Hi/Low data is NOT adjusted for splits and dividends... see p&f support forum for more details |
| CSV: retrieves data from a CSV file on your computer. See p&f support forum for more details of format of the CSV file |
| Options: choose to chart based upon intraday moves or only closing prices |
| Symbol: input a ticker symbol. Use MSN Money or Yahoo Finance websites to obtain valid symbols (depending upon which you selected in Data Source above) |
| OK: starts process of retrieving data. Doesn't need to be clicked, hitting ENTER on keyboard anytime this screen is displayed will begin the process as well |
| Cancel: closes the Data Specifications window in case you change your mind and want to close the program |
